Lesson 13: Ruth--Just as God was faithful to show His covenant love (hesed) to Ruth and Naomi, Boaz was also faithful to show his hesed to them. (Ruth 1--4)
Lesson 14: The Birth and Call of Samuel--From his birth, Samuel was called by God to bring about a new beginning in Israel's history. (1 Samuel 1; 3)
Lesson 15: The Rise and Fall of Tall Saul--God called Saul to be King of Israel with the understanding that Saul and Israel would continue to recognize God as the true King. When Saul turned away from God, God was grieved and rejected Saul as king. (1 Samuel 8; 10; 12; 15)
Lesson 16: David and Goliath: Seeing Things Through the Eyes of Faith--After rejecting Saul as king, God chooses a most unlikely person, David, to be king. Called by God and endowed with His spirit, David sees things from God's perspective when others cannot. When we live in God's reality, we can participate in the amazing things God is doing today. (1 Samuel 16--17) |
