About This Product This unit covers the Eighth Sunday after Epiphany through the First Sunday after Lent in Lectionary Year A. It is designed to help students better understand loving neighbor as self, the true kingdom of God, living in His presence, and how to deal with temptation.

Lesson 1: Love Your Neighbor as Yourself--This lesson's theme is on a God who calls us to holy living, just as He is holy. The focus of this holiness is our interactions with other people. We often interact from a position of ego and pride. Jesus challenges us to see others from the perspective of love (Psalm 119.33-40; Leviticus 19.1-2, 9-18; 1 Corinthians 3:10-11, 16-23; Matthew 5:38-48).

Lesson 2: Seek First God s Great Story--This lesson s theme focuses on how we hear stories of the kingdom of God, but often compare them to fairy tales. Students will learn that the kingdom of God encompasses everything, like the telling and living of a good story (Psalm 131; Isaiah 49:8-16a; 1 Corinthians 4:1-5; Matthew 6:24-34).

Lesson 3: Living in His Presence--In this lesson, students will learn the true identity of Christ is revealed as His appearance is changed upon the mountain top--He is the beloved Son of God, and all He does pleases the Father (Exodus 24:12-18; Psalm 2; 2 Peter 1:16-21; Matthew 17:1-9).

Lesson 4: Dealing with Temptation--Through two temptation stories, students will see the summary of humanity--through temptation and disobedience humanity fell through Adam, and through the obedience of Christ, humanity has been redeemed. God has provided a way for our sins to be forgiven by the blood of Christ and confession (Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7; Psalm 32; Romans 5:12-19; Matthew 4:1-11).
