About This Product This unit covers Christmas, the 1st Sunday after Christmas and the 1st and 2nd Sundays after Epiphany in Lectionary Year B. It is designed to help students understand the coming of Christ and his call on our lives.

Lesson 1: A Savior is Born!--This lesson's theme is "The Savior is Born." Our Savior and Messiah has arrived in the form of a baby boy. As we gather together on this Christmas day, may we remember that today is a time to worship and a time to remember the God who loves us so much that he was willing to come down in the humble form of a child. (Isaiah 62:6-12; Psalm 97; Titus 3:4-7; Luke 2:1-20)

Lesson 2: Blessed to be a Blessing--This lesson's theme is "Because we are God's children, He has blessed us in countless ways." Our Father has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another (John 1:16). (Jeremiah 31:7-14; Psalm 147:12-20; Ephesians 1:3-14; John 1:(1-9), 10-18)

Lesson 3: Baptism of the Lord--This lesson's theme is "God's Creative and Re-Creative Power." God has the ability to bring order out of chaos through God's creative "breath" (Spirit) or wind that first sweeps over the chaos and then, through words, creates order. God's creative power is more than a match for chaos or darkness. Have we realized that the same creative and re-creative power is available to redeem us in our daily circumstances? (Genesis 1:1-5; Psalm 29; Acts 19:1-7; Mark 1:4-11)

Lesson 4: Following In Obedience--This lesson's theme is "Call and Commitment." God calls us to participate with him in his purposes for this world. Calling from God always implies obedience. To answer the call, we must answer the question, "What does the Lord your God require of you?" and respond to the words of Jesus when he says, "Follow me." (1 Samuel 3:1-10 [11-20]; Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18; 1 Corinthians 6:12-20; John 1:43-51) Topics: Baptism, Birth, Call, Christmas, Commitment, Following God, Gifts, God's Love for Us, Incarnation, Jesus' Birth, John the Baptist, King, Nativity, New Life, Obedience, Salvation, baptize, follow, newborn
