Lectionary Year C, Unit 05: Lent 5--Easter 2

About This Product This unit covers the first Sunday in Lent through the fourth Sunday in Lent in Lectionary Year C. It is designed to help students understand 1) the role of personal effort in spiritual growth; 2) the characteristics of God's kingdom on earth; 3) the supreme importance of the Resurrection in salvation history; and 4) how the resurrected Christ is our source for Christian life and service.

Lesson 1: Pressing On-Spiritual life comes from God alone, by faith, but that life must be nurtured and developed through continual personal effort. (Philippians 3:4b-14: Isaiah 43:16-21; Psalm 126; John 12:1-8)

Lesson 2: A New Kind of Kingdom-God's rule comes into our world through the peace and joy that Christ brings. (John 12:12-16; Luke 19:28-40, Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29; Isaiah 50:4-9a; Philippians 2:5-11)

Lesson 3: Turning Point-The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the turning point of all history, making a way for all people to have forgiveness and spiritual life. (Acts 10:34-43; Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24; 1 Corinthians 15:19-26; John 20:1-18)

Lesson 4: Faith Seekers-A personal encounter with the risen Christ is the key to a vibrant Christian faith; He can calm our fears, turn disappointment into hope, empower us for ministry, and ease our doubts. (Acts 5:27-32, Psalm 118:14-29, Psalm 150, Revelation 1:4-8; John 20:19-31)
