Paul, a college student, is in the library trying to get motivated to study. He has a report due the next morning but is distracted by anything and everything. Satan, played as a mobster, is lounging behind Paul making sure Paul is distracted. Angie, a quiet and shy college girl, enters and sits at a table near Paul. Paul, through Satan's prompting, realizes an opportunity exists to get Angie to do his work if he feigns interest in her. The voice of God also speaks to Paul as he debates whether to go through with the plan. Although he does feel pangs of guilt, Satan convinces Paul to go through with his scheme. Angie is surprised and flattered by Paul's attention and agrees to help.
This sketch has a second ending where Paul listens to God. Scene One could be used in the first half of the service to set the stage. Toward the end of the message, the speaker could ask the actors to replay the last few minutes of the scene to see how it could end with God's guidance. |
