This unit is designed to help young adults understand what spiritual discernment is and how they can apply it in their lives. They will 1) gain a better understanding of how to use spiritual discernment in their daily lives; 2) learn how to use spiritual discernment in regards to entertainment, 3) leisure time, 4) relationships, and 5) social issues.
Lesson 1: What is Spiritual Discernment?--This lesson explores the topic of spiritual discernment and how to use it in our daily walks with Christ. (1 Kings 3:9-12; Matthew 16:2-3; Romans 2:18; 1 Corinthians 2:10-16; Philippians 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21; Hebrews 5:11-14)
Lesson 2: Entertainment--This lesson is about carefully sorting out issues and making wise decisions in entertainment. (John 17:15; Romans 12:2; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Philippians 1:9-10; 1 John 4:1)
Lesson 3: Leisure--This lesson focuses on using time wisely. (Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:8-10; Ephesians 5:15-17; Colossians 3:17)
Lesson 4: Friendship and Romance--This lesson is about discernment between what constitutes a friendship and romance in a relationship with a member of the opposite sex. (Proverbs 16:28, 17:17, 18:24, 27:5-6; John 15:14-16)
Lesson 5: Social Issues--This lesson is presented to assist everyone in their struggle to think in a Christian way and to apply biblical revelations to the pressing issues of the day. (Matthew 5:13-16; Luke 4:18-19; John 14:6; 2 Corinthians 13:8; 1 Timothy 2:1-4; James 5:16) |
