Jesus: A Study in Mark

About This Product This unit of study takes the call of Christ-the call for people to follow Him in self-giving discipleship-to today's teens. Jesus is still 1) calling them to a life of giving, serving, and loving in relationship to Him; 2) encouraging them to choose to have a persistent faith in Christ despite the negative influences around them; 3) helping them discover that a relationship with God is based on love for Him and others and not on simply keeping the rules; and 4) guiding them as they develop a deeper appreciation for the sacrament of Communion by exploring the rich heritage and images of Communion in the Bible.

Lesson 1: Losers Keepers--Christ calls His disciples to a sacrificial life of giving, serving, and loving. Use this lesson to send a clear message to your students that Jesus is calling them to look upon Him as the "one thing" they have to have. (Mark 10:17-31)

Lesson 2: Blind Faith--When people believe in Christ and seek to be touched by Him, He will respond to our belief and desire with a call to follow Him. (Mark 10:46-52)

Lesson 3: Relationships or Rules?--Membership in the kingdom of God is based on a personal relationship with Christ, not on keeping religious rules. Use this lesson to literate the minds and hearts of your teens. Rules can keep their lives orderly, and discipline can deepen their relationships with Christ and others. Ultimately, however, the most important rule Christians are to follow is Christ's command to love. (Mark 12:28-34)

Lesson 4: The Thanksgiving Feast--The sacrament of Communion is an opportunity to remember Jesus' life, death, and resurrection, to receive strength for living, and to rededicate ourselves to following Him. Use this lesson to bring your students to a deeper understanding of human nature and our need to be reminded of simple things on a regular basis.
