About This Product New Thoughts from the Old Testament gives teenagers new insight into the truths of the Old Testament by helping them understand that after they accept God's grace in their lives. Students will learn the difference between God's idea of power and the world's idea of power, and they will also learn about God's unfailing love that they are called to exhibit to others in turn.

Lesson 1: Rules = Freedom?--This lesson teaches teens that God's love and His laws and commandments are the gifts and tools we need to freely enjoy right relationships with Him and each other. Students will learn that they need training for godly lives just like an athlete needs training to excel at a sport. (Exodus 20:1-17; Ezekiel 36:24-27; Matthew 5:17-19; 22:34-40).

Lesson 2: Big Surprises in Small Packages--This lesson examines the differences between God's idea of power and the world's idea of power. Students will learn that the strength they can access for successful living depends on God, not glamour, popularity, or outward appearances. (1 Samuel 17; Ephesians 6:10-18; 1 Timothy 4:12).

Lesson 3: One Good Burn Deserves Another--This lesson assures teens that God's unfailing love calls them to Him, even when they are running away from Him. Students will learn that once they receive God's love in their hearts, He calls them to exhibit the same kind of love to others. (Hosea 1; 3-4; 8; 11-14; Jeremiah 31:31-34; Colossians 3:12-13).

Lesson 4: Lights Shining in Darkness--This lesson shows how sending Jesus into our sin-darkened world was God's ultimate offer of reconciliation and light. (Isaiah 9:1-2, 6-7; 59:1-11; Matthew 5:14-16; John 1:1-5, 9).

Lesson 5: Walk with Me--This lesson teaches teens that God has promised to be their constant Companion through the uncertainties of life.
