This month of lessons will deal with such issues as 1) materialism, 2) the message of Christmas, 3) what it means to have hope, and 4) the art of compassion.
Session 1: Stuff—For Christians, it is important to hold on tight to the true meaning of the Christmas season, but it can easily be blurred by materialism and the need for lots of "stuff".
Session 2: Father Christmas—Santa Claus is cool, but God is cooler. The truth is that Christmas can not truly be celebrated unless we know who the real father of Christmas is.
Session 3: Homeless with Hope—We tend to refer to Christ in royal terms, like King, Prince of Peace, which most definitely fit. But Jesus spent most of his life with no real home; a refugee for the most part. Thinking of Jesus as a homeless guy might just change the way we view the world around us.
Session 4: Compassion—Christmas is our story about the ultimate act of compassion, at least the beginning of that story. What would it look like to have that kind of compassion—a compassion with skin—in your world? |
