Lesson 1: Remember What You Look Like--This lesson.s theme is The Mark of Obedience: Listening and Doing Gods Word. Gods Word is wisdom for life, and the only way it can make a difference in our lives is when we live it through obedience. The Word itself cautions us to be "doers" of the Word and not merely "listeners. (Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9; Psalm 15; James 1:17-27; Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23)
Lesson 2: Playing Favorites--This lesson.s theme is Live by Faith, Not by Favoritism. Because we believe in a loving and just God, our faith leads us to see the world with fairness and justice. We are called to treat all people equally, not favoring them because of their status or riches. (Proverbs 22:1-2, 8-9, 22-23; Psalm 125; James 2:1-10, [11-13], 14-17 ; Mark 7:24-37)
Lesson 3: What You Say Matters--This lesson.s theme is Taming the Tongue. The Bible speaks to the dangers of our tongue, how it can be used for good or evil. Only God can purify our hearts and give us the right words to say. How can we speak without division in our hearts and tongue? How can we tame the tongue to praise and speak no harm? (Isaiah 50:4-9a; Psalm 116:1-9; James 3:1-12; Mark 8:27-38)
Lesson 4: Who is the Greatest?--This lesson.s theme is Envy, Jealousy and Evil Desires. Our own selfish desires can keep us away from God. They can even infect our prayer life. Where have we left the attitudes of our hearts desires unchecked? Do we understand the role of wisdom and humility in the Christian life? (Proverbs 31:10-31; Psalm 1; James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a; Mark 9:30-37)
