About This Product

Session 1: Candy Coating vs. Inner Filling-- The world is full of God's wondrous handiwork. It is an unfortunate reflection of our fallen natures that we take those astounding and intentional differences and use them to divide rather than unite us in awe. Think about it: cat vs. dog people, Ohio vs. Michigan State, boys vs. girls, popular vs. unpopular. We get so caught up in the differences we lose sight of the things that unite us like love of animals and love of sports.

Session 2: Investments and Returns-- Matthew records the parable of the talents where Jesus explains the benefits of risk and the danger of fear. All three servants know their master well enough to know what would please him-a good return on his investments. They also know high return investments carry high risks. Two servants decide it's worth the risk of losing it all, knowing even their attempt will please their master. The third is so paralyzed by fear he doesn't even do the minimum and put his talent into a savings account; he sticks it in a coffee can in the backyard.

Session 3: Unity-- I don't know about you, but I often wonder why so many different Christian congregations exist? If, as we learned two weeks ago, they all have inner fillings why are there so many different candy coatings? I believe it's because God is too big to be reflected completely in one person or even in one denomination.

Session 4: Firm Foundation-- So, which denomination is the best? It's a trick question. When we start looking at denominations and evaluating them on their own merits we have lost sight of the most important point-that it's not about the church; it's about Jesus. Topics: Church, Denominations, Difference or Differences, Division, Fear, Fears, Foundation, Love, Separation, Society, Talents, Trust, Unity
